Schooling is harder for boys than it is for girls. This is my opinion at least for the Philippine situation. Success in schools in our country favors sex specific traits which, if you will look closely, are traits related to women.
"Ability to sit and stay in the classroom". Its not a boy's thing to stay indoors. But it is feminine to be always inside the house.
To listen and to talk well are generally female traits. Women bear the stereotype of being "chismosa", and yet this trait serves them well in school. When someone is chismosa, this means, she too, is a listener. A trait which serves student well when attending lectures.
Writing, the act of writing, in my opinion is gentler for women than it is for men. Writing is a delicate physical movement. It requires small, fine movements, which is again, specific to women. Men are better in movements which require huge exertion of effort and flourish, like climbing stairs, trees, running, etc.
School is not for brusque masculine fellows. Such fellows will eventually drop out. If ever they do succeed in schools, they will have become transformed and a bit feminized upon graduation.
School is always harder for boys.
